Today, we welcomed the members of Deep Purple, who are currently visiting Japan, and British Ambassador to Japan Longbottom to the official residence.
Deep Purple is the band I’ve always admired.
I have the deepest respect for them for shaping the history of rock, continuing to push boundaries, and creating such captivating music.
I understand this is their 17th visit to Japan, and I am truly delighted to meet the members of a band that symbolizes the musical exchange between Japan and the UK.
I explained that “content, including music, is a key sector within the ‘17 Growth Strategy Fields’ promoted by the Takagi Cabinet, and that the government is providing large-scale, long-term, and strategic support for overseas expansion centered on live music performances in Japan.”
Furthermore, with Ambassador Longbottom in attendance, we discussed how the current situation in the Middle East has once again underscored the importance of global solidarity. In this uncertain world, the importance of cooperation between Japan and the UK—based on shared fundamental values—is growing, and I also spoke about our commitment to further strengthening the Japan-UK relationship.
The members of Deep Purple shared their thoughts, saying, “We’re truly delighted to be visiting Japan. Music is a universal language. It’s an honor to be able to share our music with people all over the world. Our Japanese fans really enjoy our music.”
We look forward to Deep Purple’s upcoming concerts in Japan, where their world-class performances are sure to thrill countless Japanese fans, make a significant impact on the Japanese entertainment industry, and serve as a powerful force in promoting the long-standing “cultural exchange between Japan and the UK.”
