Riot is a heavy metal band from New York, USA, formed in 1975. They are known for their aggressive sound and melodic songs. One of the first groups to be active in the US metal scene, the band is particularly popular in Japan.
The band has been active for a very long time and is known for its frequent member changes, with musical styles varying slightly from one vocalist to another. After the death of founding member guitarist Mark Leary, the band ceased its activities in 2012, but at the behest of the remaining members, the band changed its name to Riot V and resumed its activities.
Riot V is now attracting attention in the heavy metal scene as a band that is marking a new chapter while keeping the traditional Riot legacy alive.
